OVERVIEW

Join us for an exploration of the wild Western coast of the Emerald Isle. Experience the dramatic beauty of the rugged and rocky coastline. Take in the deep history of place through its photogenic structures, such as friaries, chapels, and castles, and lighthouses. Observe the unbelievable ways in which the sea has sculpted the many natural wonders of this Western coast of Ireland, such as, sea stacks, islands, soaring cliffs, and sandy beaches,

There will be a myriad of opportunities to learn and put many photography skills into practice, such as long exposure photography, black and white photography, and explore aerial perspectives with your drone.

Ireland is full of a diversity of landscapes that will excite and challenge you.

We’ll spend seven nights exploring a path from Dingle to Donegal, taking in much of the best that this amazing island has to offer.

An emphasis will be given to time spent in the field, creating incredible images, and working one-on-one with Josh and Dusty to improve craft and creativity. We will explore these stunning places with a very small group(only 5 participants), which will maximize your learning and will ensure greater flexibility for us to get to the very best locations for the conditions that we experience.

SKILL LEVEL AND CAMERA EQUIPMENT

This photo tour is open to photographers of all skill levels. The ultra-low instructor-to-participant ratio allows us to spend more time with each participant. At minimum, however, you should be familiar with your camera's controls and understand the basics of composition.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING

Irish weather can be dynamic and at times, fierce. During this workshop, we are likely to experience nature’s drama at every level. The dramatic weather in the North Atlantic perfectly compliments this spectacular landscape. High winds, crashing waves, and often moody skies. You’ll want to come prepared with waterproof rain shells, and warm layers to ensure comfort while enduring wind and possible rain.

TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS

Making your air arrangements - You’ll be flying into/out of Dublin Airport (Code DUB). Ground transportation to and from DUB is included in your tour cost. You’ll need to book a flight that arrives on October 11th, we’ll stay near Dublin for the night to allow for an early drive towards Dingle the following morning.

We will make the drive back to Dublin on October 18th. It may be possible to fly out late in the evening 18th, or else book a night to stay near Dublin, and fly out the following day.

Lodging - Once we arrive in Dublin, we’ll be staying the first night in Dublin, where we’ll get acquainted, and rest up for the journey westward. We’ll spend the next three nights in the town of Dingle, on the amazing Dingle Peninsula. Once we make the most of our time in Dingle, we’ll head North, towards County Mayo, and spend one night before moving on towards Donegal. We’ve secured good quality accommodations throughout, with comfortable and private hotel rooms.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

There will a moderate amount of hiking on this trip. Generally, we will be walking relatively short distances which are sometimes at an incline, as well as positioning ourselves on potentially slippery and uneven rocks. So, having good balance and the ability to walk up and down an incline is important. Several locations will also approach steep cliffs, so balance and caution are required to stay safe.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly suggest you purchase emergency medical treatment and medical evacuation insurance for this trip.
