OVERVIEW

Join us for an exploration of the magical woodlands of Southern Sweden. Experience the subtle beauty of ancient Beech Forests set ablaze with Fall Color. These forests provide a unique opportunity to photograph the splendors of Fall color, but without the chaos and busyness of understory. Instead of cluttered foliage, these woodlands typically feature a carpet of rusty red autumn leaves. Small scenes abound with impossibly green moss and a plethora of mushrooms.

While our primary targets are the unique woodlands scenes, we’ll also have chances to explore some of the finest coastline in Sweden, with forest-lined rocky drama.

Come breathe in this rejuvenating forest with us on a fantastic shared group nature experience.

An emphasis will be given to time spent in the field, creating incredible images, and working one-on-one with Josh and Dusty to improve craft and creativity. We will explore these stunning places with a small group, which will maximize your learning and will ensure greater flexibility for us to get to the very best locations for the conditions that we experience.

SKILL LEVEL AND CAMERA EQUIPMENT

This photo tour is open to photographers of all skill levels. The low participant-instructor ratio allows us to spend more time with each participant. At minimum, however, you should be familiar with your camera's controls and understand the basics of composition.

TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS

Making your air arrangements - You’ll be flying into/out of Copenhagen Airport (CPH). Ground transportation to and from CPH is included in your tour cost. You’ll need to book a flight that arrives mid-morning on October 131st from there, we’ll drive a mere hour and a half to our lodging in Lund, Sweden.

We will make the drive back to CPH on November 5th.

Lodging - Once we arrive in Sweden, we’ll be staying all 5 nights at one base of operation in Lund. This location will give us ideal access to some of the most stunning woodlands in Scandinavia.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

There will a moderate amount of hiking on this trip. Generally, we will be walking relatively short distances which are sometimes at an incline, as well as positioning ourselves on potentially slippery and uneven rocks. So, having good balance and the ability to walk up and down an incline is important.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly suggest you purchase emergency medical treatment and medical evacuation insurance for this trip.

• Getting fluent with your gear and developing a consistent workflow
• Achieving an optimal exposure
• Managing depth of field and achieving sharp focus
• Focus stacking for depth of field and stopping motion
• Capture for panoramic stitching
• Using filters effectively

Creativity in the Landscape: 

• Seeing the core compositional elements in the landscape
• Creative use of depth of field
• Long exposure techniques
• Learning and practicing new compositions
• Intentional camera movements and motion blurs
• Composing for different aspect ratios

And we'll also do at least one image review session and share some advanced digital darkroom workflow techniques.

We reserve the right to cancel the photo tour for any reason including low enrollment in the tour. We also reserve the right to operate the workshop with only one instructor if enrollment is low.

Cancellations and Refund Policy for International Tours:

120+ days to start of tour = Refund of deposit (Minus $250 Admin/Processing Fee) if/when reserved spot is able to be filled by another participant.

120 days or less prior to day 1 of tour = No Refund will be given
